From face masks to booty scrubs to laser treatments - there are plenty of ways to pamper your body. Somehow people tend to forget about their feet, which is one of the most important parts of your body because it carries you throughout the day. As much as any other part of your body, you want to make sure your feet look and feel good. Here are three ways to keep them in tip top shape:
Pedicures
You can always do your nails at home but nothing beats the full treatment of getting them done in a salon. Pedicures don’t necessarily mean painting your nails - it’s also great to get your nailed cleaned and shaped. You want your toes to be pleasant to look at but this is also important for hygienic reason. Getting your nails cleaned can help prevent ingrown nails or infections. If you do get your toenails painted, the rule of thumb is that they should match your fingernails. Have fun with picking out the color but make sure it compliments any open toed shoes you plan on wearing in the future.
Foot Scrubs
Let’s not beat around the bush - we know what it’s like to have peeling, dry feet. It is pretty uncomfortable and usually the result of walking a lot. It doesn’t just happen when you’ve been traveling. It’s good to do a foot scrub regularly to exfoliate the dead skin cells away. There are plenty of DIY recipes that use ingredients that can easily be found in your kitchen or medicine cabinet. The satisfaction of scrubbing away at all the dry skin will be enough to make this part of your pampering routine.
Foot Massages
Foot massages are pretty easy to avail of. With plenty of parlors around, you will have more than enough choices. You can get a simple 30 minute foot massage or tailor it to your needs and budget. If you want to go all out you can combine it with a foot scrub or pedicure. You can choose whether it's a dry oil massage or with lotion. Not only is this a deeply relaxing experience but it helps to improve circulation in your feet. Because just like any other muscle, your feet can get knots and tense, especially if you spend a lot of time on the go.
While these things might seem indulgent, all of them can be done at home. We’re big advocates of treating yourself but the doesn’t mean you need to break the bank. These are tips we recommend including in your routine because it will improve the appearance and feel of your feet. But one of the most important ways to care for your feet is to wear the right shoes. Make sure they are comfortable, made from good quality materials, and they mould to the shape of your feet with every wear. Bonus points if your shoes have extra cushioned insoles!
Remember, the shoe should fit your foot, and not the other way around.
